To mark the conclusion of National Heart Month in February, Red Cross Training hosted a LinkedIn Live audio event featuring a panel of speakers, who discussed CPR, AEDs and inclusivity. Alice Squires, Training Product Manager at the British Red Cross was joined by Jack Thompson, Sales Director and Sadie Dwyer, National Account Manager of Reliance Medical.

Prior to the event, followers of the British Red Cross LinkedIn page were asked how confident they felt about using an AED in an emergency. 958 followers responded and the majority 43% said they felt confident. 29% were willing but tentative and 28% were not confident.

The audio event highlighted:

  • signs and symptoms of a heart attack in different genders and ethnic groups.
  • the simplicity of using an AED.
  • access to AEDs in the community.

Following the live event, Alice said: ‘‘It was great to share a platform with our guest panellists. We've come a long way, but I still think there is more work to be done in terms of access to AEDs. We're fortunate that everyone who learns workplace first aid with British Red Cross Training has the opportunity to use an AED training device, which is an important step towards building public confidence in this life-saving technology.’’

Watch what happened at our National Heart Month LinkedIn Live event.

British Red Cross Training offers a range of first aid training courses which include training on how to use an AED. Our interactive courses provide the practical skills and confidence to help save lives. We also offer Defibriallator (AED) training with CPR, which is suitable for those who don’t have a current first aid certificate but want to learn how to use an AED.
