British Red Cross Training has demonstrated its commitment to continuous development across its Mental health at work course delivery with a series of trainer workshops.
The workshops took place in January at the British Red Cross offices in Moorgate and Salford, with the entire team of Mental health at work training staff invited to attend. Mental Health Product Manager Louise Fernand and mental health training leads Kelly Fagan and Helen Robins led the sessions.
The team was provided with product updates from Louise on how our courses have evolved and what to expect over the next six months. Trainers were encouraged to practise using new learner-led classroom activities, discuss any new challenges, and share positive feedback from course attendees since the last workshops in 2024.
The sessions come as part of a company-wide effort to deliver the best mental health training to organisations across the country using expertise from the British Red Cross psychosocial and mental health team to continually improve course content and delivery.
“Training sessions were positively received by all trainers and form an important part of the continuous improvement here at British Red Cross Training,” explains Louise Fernand.
“Our aim is always to deliver the highest quality, most relevant content possible, and this relies on feedback from the people on the front line delivering the courses. It was a great opportunity to all get together in a room and share our experiences.”
A unique approach to Mental health at work training
Mental health at work training from the Red Cross takes a proactive and preventative approach, designed to provide learners with the skills and knowledge to spot signs and symptoms of poor mental health before it develops into anything more serious.
Each course is designed by psychosocial and mental health experts and gives learners essential tools and techniques to develop awareness and understanding of stress, build resilience, and better adapt to challenging situations in work and in their personal lives.
Mental health at work courses from the Red Cross have already attained certification from the CPD, validating the high standard across content and delivery of each course.
Each course is designed using the globally recognised CALMER framework, an easy-to-follow set of steps designed to equip people with the skills and confidence to support themselves and others.
